Suicide Kings: A group of desperate kids kidnap a slick underworld mob boss and keep him prisoner to boost leverage in the kidnapping of Thomas’ sibling. Although throughout one long day, the mobster Walken, in fine form measures up his captors and plays on their weaknesses. Well planned piece, with some excellent tale twists and first-rate acting jobs. Cast includes Christopher Walken, Denis Leary, Henry Thomas, Sean Patrick Flanery, Laura San Giacomo, and Brad Garrett. Forgetting Sarah Marshall: Here is a romantic comedy set in a beautiful resort in Hawaii. After being dumped by his girlfriend Sarah, he finally decides to go to Hawaii to get over the loss. Unfortunately, when he goes to check in at the resort, the first person he sees is Sarah, and of course her new boyfriend.
Educating Rita: This is an amusing adaptation of Willy Russell’s level play in reference to a youthful working class spouse who desires to better herself, and chooses boozy professor Caine as her mentor. Walters is phenomenal in her film debut performing her role and Caine has one of his best roles as her mentor. Cast includes Michael Caine, Julie Walters, Michael Williams, Maureen Lipman, Jeananne Crowley, and Malcolm Douglas. (110 minutes,’83)
Sea Wife: Disarming yam of Burton and Collins subsisting on a torpedoed transport boat. He falls in love with her, not knowing she’s a nun. Set throughout WW2. Cast includes Richard Burton, Joan Collins, Basil Sydney, and Ronald Squire. (82 minutes,’57)
Law of the Lawless: An all star veteran cast is of chief interest here, with Robertson an ex-gunman turned law man. Cast includes Dale Robertson, Yvonne De Carlo, William Bendix, Bruce Cabot, Richard Arlen, and Kent Taylor. (88 minutes,’64)
Good Guys Wear Black: Norris hops feet first through a windshield and proceeds to rearrange the face of bellman Backus, all in the name of nationwide security. Stupid political paranoia thriller passes time effortlessly enough. Cast includes Chuck Norris, Anne Archer, James Franciscus, Lloyd Haynes, Dana Andrews, and Jim Backus.(100 minutes,’79)
Scrooged: A humorous take on the famous Dickens novel, A Christmas Carol. Set in modern times, Frank Cross runs a TV station, and doesn’t really appreciate the Christmas spirit. The three ghost of Christmas past, present and future join forces to set Frank straight.
