Buying Gold As A Long Term Investment

The price of gold fluctuates, because more gold can be mined, but gold is not consumed in any way, it is bought, and kept safe by collectors. When collectors, or anyone who wants to sell gold, comes out with his share, the supply of gold that is available increases. This pushes the prices down although, as soon as people are informed about it, there is an excessive demand, which pushes the price back up.

Investing in gold coins surely prevents your loss against currency ruination, and reduction. However, when one goes through the blogs, and articles on intrenet about the divergence in gold prices, he/she gets muddled.

Contrary to this, investment in pure gold coins is wholly solely dependent on their gold content, and thus it provides you a very good way to invest your money. However, a President Roosevelt in 1933 arranged a gold call-in, through which, he planned to collect all the gold. He further said that the prices each American can purchase small amount of coins from the collection on the proclaimed amount for that coin by the collector not considering how much gold content is there in the coin. In fact, today numismatic coins and the coins of the collectors are sold on such high prices irrespective of the gold content in them.

Restoration unleashed the new era in gold investments in 1974. Trading re-strikes the Mexican 50 pesos and the Austrian 100 Coronas, gold bullion coins rose. Although this gold bullion coin market was actually launched with the introduction of the South African Krugerrands.

American Gold Eagles have high purchasing rate throughout the world. In addition, Krugerrands give Gold Eagles a tight competition as Krugerrand prices are lesser than those of Gold Eagles.

50 Pesos, and 100 Coronas have lost their credibility, because they do not posses exact an ounce of gold, as Gold Eagles and Krugerrands do. Furthermore, the gold content is embossed in English on the Gold Eagle, and Krugerrand coins, but Pesos does not have that print in English, and Coronas completely have no print on them.

Another all the rage bullion coin is Canadian Maple Leaf, which has now lost a little bit of its popularity against Gold Eagles due to amendments they made in designs of the coin that made all the scratches visible. The Mexican Pesos and Austrian 100 Coronas can also be good investments at a cheaper rate especially for those who can bargain rates easily.

There is a huge variety of bullion gold coins, but they are not all trustworthy, as the imprinted gold content on them is not surely equal to the actaul content of the gold coin. Examples are old European bullion coins, Australian kangaroo, or Nuggets, Austrian Philharmonics, and Hungarian 100 Coronas. However, investment in all these coins is not recommended.
