Life of Legendary Train Engineer – Casey Jones

In in’63 somewhere in southeast Missouri, a legend was born to Frank and Ann Jones. John Luther Jones was the oldest of five children blessing Frank and Ann

John had been interested in locomotives at an early age. At age-… John, sister Helen and brother Charles moved with family to C-A-Y-C-E Kentucky.

While in Cayce, John developed an ever deeper appreciation and knowledge of locomotives. At age 15 John determined that he wanted to be a life long rail man… which in those days was about as good a paying job as one could receive.

Johns dreams landed in his lap when the Mobil & Ohio Railroad offered the 6″4′ legendary engineer a position on their team. It’s hard work and challenging at times but that’s what Casey loved.

In’81 John moved to Jackson, Tennessee… upon the request of the railroad. He lived in a popular boarding house while traversing in and out of Jackson. He was eventually asked where he was from……. John Sharply replied CAYCE, CAYCE Kentucky!!!

In’86 Casey married Janie Brady. The couple had three children, John Jr., Helen and Charles. While married to Janie Casey was advanced to the level of engineer. In’90 Casey received his own route.

The Following Years Groomed a Legend

His supernatural punctuality was the sort of thing that individuals set their watches by! Ten years pass and Casey’s name remains solid as a figure of reliability. It would be his attempt at preserving his good name that would begin his ascension into folklore history.

Caseys Remains King of the Rails – The Year is’00

Casey smells trouble when he is asked to pull an additional run. With fellow engineer unable to make the trip, Casey Agrees to the delinquent shedual Behind when Casey takes the helm he’s forced to push the mighty engine faster and faster! Unaware to Casey and his passengers there is trouble in route to Canton.

Casey Steamed the Powerful Engine #382 up to Speeds Exceeding 100mph

When taking over the run Casey was 40 minutes to the rear, although by the time he’d reached his destination he and fireman Sim Webb cut that time into 10 minutes. In a desperate attempt to maintain his reputation of arriving on time, Casey Pushed Forward at record breaking speeds.

Trouble ahead as Casey and Sim where unaware of the broken switch at the stop ahead. The broken switch caused two trains to rest back to back forcing an end caboose and two other cars to hang out too far on the adjacent tracks.

Trouble Ahead as Disaster Approached Casey at 75mph

Too late… No chance of stopping. Casey’s Engine #382 is headed for a collision that will echo across the world and make Casey last words infamous… JUMP Sim, JUMP!

Sim Web later recalled that day and told the world of those famous last words. With his hands gripping the break, his grip the gift of life for passengers in tow and the civilians and rail men ahead.

Casey saved everyone but himself as his engine crashed into the rear of a caboose staled on the tracks in Vaughn. Mighty Casey managed to slow the train to an astonishing 35mph, which prevented any passengers from dying and saved most of the cars.

Casey was found in the wreckage gripping the break that saved the lives of so many. In his honer a song was created and Casey Jones went on to become an American HERO!
