How to Curb the Bed Bugs Menace

Bed bugs in houses are a big problem for the inhabitants. These little nasty pests feed on the blood from warm blooded animals and if they can\’t find a human host they could settle for even a cat or dog. To deal with this issue, one must go for professional pest control procedures.

Travellers are mostly to blame for transportation of bed bugs, and once these bugs find a new habitat they multiply on their own rapidly. They swarm beds, furniture, carpets and all such objects where they can find holes and gaps.

A common myth about bed bugs is that they multiply because of lack of hygiene, but that\’s quite incorrect. Bed bugs are pests that are thirsty for blood and not waste, and thus trash removal is not a very useful way to control them. But cleaner surroundings help in better visibility of these pests and thereby eradicating them becomes easier.

That bed bugs are too small to be visible without any visual aid is another mistaken belief. The truth is that these creatures can be seen without any help but it is tough to see them because their flat bodies allow them to slide into tiny cracks and layers of cloth without any difficulty.

They will normally bite once a week or so, and they can really live for a long time without eating – commonly six months, but sometimes over a year.

One of the easiest ways to remove bed bugs is to engage an knowledgeable pest controller who can sanitize the home of these pests. However, there are some home cures also to control their menace such as washing carpets, bed linens and other clothing items in warm water and then exposing them to the sun. Cracks in the walls must be closed with a sealant, and any piece of furniture that has holes must be removed to avoid them from turning into breeding grounds for these bugs.
